The hall has been ennobled not only by its new purpose, but also by being rechristened the Markus Sittikus Hall. It thus commemorates the great Prince Archbishop of Salzburg who originally came from Hohenems. He was the brother of that count of Hohenems who opened his territory to the Jews and hence laid the foundations for the Jewish tradition of the locality. In addition to the Palace, the ruins of Altems Castle, the Synagogue and the Jewish Museum, Hohenems now another monument to its impressive history in the form of the Markus Sittikus Hall.
